5G Connectivity, Retainability, and Integrity KPI Engineering and Optimization
Instructor: Rahul Kaundal
This course delivers a focused deep dive into 5G performance management, specifically targeting the critical areas of retainability and integrity. Master the KPIs that define connection stability and data delivery quality in both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) network architectures.
Learning objectives
- Define 5G retainability and integrity KPIs and explain their critical role in measuring network stability and user experience.
- Differentiate between retainability mechanisms in 5G SA (DRB-based) and NSA (ERAB-based) architectures, including the impact of RRC Inactive state.
- Calculate key retainability metrics, including drop rates for radio bearers, QoS flows, and sessions, and analyze the root causes of connection failures.
- Analyze the role of dual connectivity (EN-DC) in retainability, including procedures for connection release initiated by both master and secondary nodes.
- Measure and calculate 5G data performance, including MAC and PDCP throughput at the cell and user level, and user plane latency.
- Distinguish between typical and peak data rates, and perform theoretical throughput calculations based on 5G network parameters.
- Synthesize retainability and integrity KPIs into a comprehensive framework for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing overall 5G network performance.
