It’s the evening of 9 March 2020, when the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announces the first Italian lockdown, which will last until 18 May.
During this forced quarantine, I find myself, like many others, alone at home for 69 days.
Between a video call and another, I kept myself company with music. Listening to a multitude of songs, that overlapped the sound of ambulances, constant background noise for those who, like me, live in Lombardy, the region most affected.
The time perceived during this prolonged closure was not measurable, having for each of us it a different value, and each one tried to fill it as better as he could: for me, not being good at baking (with the exception of Kachapuri), it was the beginning of a musical journey through the feelings and the memories that each song brings with it.
Here comes Quarantoons, an anthology of my soundtrack during those 69 days. Each song is complemented with a homemade sketch inspired by its music video.
Most of the songs have a cheerful style, essential during a time that has marked our lives forever and will remain a permanent memory in our minds.
