Wildlife capture and relocation are essential components of modern game ranch management and conservation. Whether undertaken for population control, species reintroduction, genetic management, veterinary intervention, research, or commercial wildlife operations, game capture requires careful planning, coordination, and adherence to animal welfare and safety standards.
The course covers the planning and preparation required for successful capture operations, including logistical considerations, risk management, equipment preparation, team coordination, and legal compliance. Learners will also develop practical competence in supporting capture activities, collecting biological samples and scientific data, fitting monitoring devices where required, and contributing to post-operation reporting and record-keeping processes.
Emphasis is placed on animal welfare, operational safety, data accuracy, and the role of game capture in supporting sustainable wildlife management and conservation outcomes. Upon completion, learners will be able to contribute effectively to wildlife capture and relocation operations while maintaining professional standards and best practices.
At the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
•
Explain the role and purpose of game capture and relocation within a wildlife management plan.
•
Assist in the planning and preparation of game capture and removal operations using appropriate capture techniques.
•
•
Collect biological samples, record scientific data, and fit monitoring devices to captured wildlife where required.
•
Compile and prepare operational information to support post-capture reporting and record-keeping processes.
