Description:
Roberto Rossellini’s film ‘Love’ (1948) breaks out from the stream of neorealism and is considered transitional in the director’s work. In the center are two female images created by Anna Magnani. In the short story based on Jean Cocteau’s one-act play “The Human Voice,” she plays a demi-monde lady experiencing a love drama, and in the short story “The Miracle,” based on the script by Federico Fellini, she plays a village fool who becomes pregnant by a tramp whom she mistook for St. Joseph.
