Trama:
In un paese al confine col Messico lo sceriffo Jack Benteen (Nolte) ha dei problemi con la droga. L’uomo che tiene le fila del commercio è il suo vecchio amico d’infanzia Cash Bailey. Ora i due non si amano granché, tanto più che Jack convive con Sarita (Alonso), ex-amante di Bailey. Tra i due litiganti arriva il tenente Hackett con la sua armata di fantasmi. I suoi uomini, infatti, ufficialmente sono caduti nel Vietnam, nel Libano e in altri teatri di guerra. In realtà sono ancora vivi e addestrati per combattere la malavita.
