Trama:
Nelle campagne dell'Irlanda del 1920 i gemelli anglo-irlandesi Rachel ed Edward si confrontano ogni notte con le presenze sinistre che popolano la tenuta di famiglia. Le presenze impongono ai due tre regole fondamentali da rispettare: andare a letto entro mezzanotte, impedire a qualsiasi estraneo di oltrepassare la soglia della loro porta ed evitare di fuggire per non mettere in pericolo la vita dell'altro. Tornando dal fronte nel vicino villaggio, il veterano di guerra Sean viene immediatamente attratto da Rachel, che si ritrova a dover infrangere le regole imposte. Le conseguenze del comportamento di Rachel spingeranno la giovane a un confronto mortale con il fratello e con la maledizione che li tormenta.
