Trama:
Mentre la Prima Guerra Mondiale (1914-1918) volge al termine, Mathilde riceve la notizia che il suo fidanzato è uno dei cinque soldati che, dopo essere stati sottoposti alla corte marziale, sono stati inviati nella terra di nessuno tra gli eserciti francese e tedesco, quasi certamente destinati a morte.
