For the Little Italy tour, which crossed France in 2013, Roberto Alagna drew inspiration from the culture of Italian immigrants who came to settle in Little Italy, a legendary New York neighborhood with a rich musical tradition in their baggage. Roberto Alagna’s great-grandfather was born here. In this new song tour, the tenor represents his little Italy and pays tribute to the great Italian-American composers who shaped the music of the 20th century: Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Mario Lanza or Louis Prima… and pays his respects to French artists such as Nino Ferrer, Yves Montand or Serge Reggiani, who contributed to the spread of Italian musical culture throughout the world.
Under the musical direction of Frederic Manukyan, whose swing big band unites about twenty musicians on stage. Inspired by the original flavor of early Italian-American groups, the conductor achieves a breathtaking tour de force through dynamic and innovative musical arrangements that perfectly match the lyrical inflections of the opera singer’s powerful voice.
