Nanako è una dolce ragazzina di appena sedici anni che, al primo anno delle scuole superiori, si trova ad affrontare eventi e problemi che solo fino a poco tempo prima avrebbe ritenuto impossibili. “Caro fratello…” con queste parole scritte al “fratello maggiore” Takehiko Henmi (uno studente universitario che Nanako ha eletto a confidente ed a fratello maggiore, appunto), la ragazza esprime i suoi turbamenti e le sue gioie, rendendo partecipe lo spettatore delle sue più segrete emozioni e paure.
